Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Black Hole Chasers, award-winning investigative journalist Anna Crowley Redding presents the riveting true story of one of the most inspiring scientific breakthroughs of our lifetime—the Event Horizon Telescope team's reveal of the first image of a super massive black hole. In April 2019, the Event Horizon Telescope Team unveiled the first ever image of a super massive black hole. This inspiring scientific breakthrough took years of hard work, innovative thinking, and a level of global cooperation never seen before. The challenge was immense. The goal was impossible. They would need a telescope as big as the earth itself. The technology simply didn’t exist. And yet, a multi-national team of scientists was able to show the world an image of something previously unseeable. Based off extensive research and hours interviews with many of the team's ground-breaking scientist, physicists, and mathematicians, Black Hole Chasers is a story of unique technological innovation and scientific breakthroughs, but more importantly, it's a story of human curiosity and triumph.

Download or read book The Black Hole in Isaiah written by Frederik Poulsen and published by Mohr Siebeck. This book was released on 2019-01-04 with total page 489 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Isaiah is strangely silent on the destruction of Jerusalem and the people's deportation to Babylon in the early sixth century BCE. Frederik Poulsen demonstrates that the exile hides itself as a "black hole" at the center of the composition and thereby has a decisive influence on the literary structure, poetic imagery, and theological message of this prophetic book."

Download or read book The Neutron Star-Black Hole Connection written by Chryssa Kouveliotou and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2001-12-31 with total page 546 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The foremost observers and theorists discuss the latest developments in the astrophysics of neutron stars, black holes and their interaction in the universe. Often found in compact, interacting binaries, these objects exhibit broadly similar behaviour. The determination of observational signatures that distinguish between these two types of objects is systematically explored. Supernovae and evolutionary scenarios leading to neutron stars and black holes, single or in binaries, are also discussed in detail. There is also a discussion of the decades old mystery of cosmic gamma ray bursts, currently thought to represent enormous stellar explosions at cosmological distances. These could be the result of mergers of a neutron star and its compact binary companion: a literal neutron star-black hole connection. A lucid series of lectures for the advanced graduate student. A unifying text that will appeal to the research astrophysicist and space physicist.
Download or read book Asymptotic Safety and Black Holes written by Kevin Falls and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-26 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the open challenges in fundamental physics is to combine Einstein's theory of general relativity with the principles of quantum mechancis. In this thesis, the question is raised whether metric quantum gravity could be fundamental in the spirit of Steven Weinberg's seminal asymptotic safety conjecture, and if so, what are the consequences for the physics of small, possibly Planck-size black holes? To address the first question, new techniques are provided which allow, for the first time, a self-consistent study of high-order polynomial actions including up to 34 powers in the Ricci scalar. These novel insights are then exploited to explain quantum gravity effects in black holes, including their horizon and causal structure, conformal scaling, evaporation, and the thermodynamics of quantum space-time. Results indicate upper limits on black hole temperature, and the existence of small black holes based on asymptotic safety for gravity and thermodynamical arguments.

Download or read book D-Brane written by Koji Hashimoto and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-01-13 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Superstring theory is a promising theory which can potentially unify all the forces and the matters in particle physics. A new multi-dimensional object which is called "D-brane" was found. It drastically changed our perspective of a unified world. We may live on membrane-like hypersurfaces in higher dimensions ("braneworld scenario"), or we can create blackholes at particle accelarators, or the dynamics of quarks is shown to be equivalent to the higher dimensional gravity theory. All these scenarios are explained in this book with plain words but with little use of equations and with many figures. The book starts with a summary of long-standing problems in elementary particle physics and explains the D-branes and many applications of them. It ends with future roads for a unified ultimate theory of our world.

Download or read book God Particle Formation From Dark Energy And Human Being From This God Particle written by Dr. Sanjoy Kumar Dutta and published by Blue Rose Publishers. This book was released on 2023-02-28 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are two types of energy that exist within space : Dark Energy and Dark Matter. Dark Energy is a homogenous eternal potential energy that exists below zero degree kelvin temperature in absolute static equilibrium phase of energy. Dark Matter is the dynamic phase of Dark Energy above zero degree kelvin temperature as kinetic Energy. Smallest unit of kinetic energy particle is a one-dimensional photon and known as the God Particle. All elements are formed by these God particles. We, human beings are also made with baryonic hydrogen atoms arranged in elemental and molecular forms that are all made with God particles. Dark energy to Dark Matter conversion leads to contraction of energy space and Dark Matter to Dark Energy conversion leads to expansion of energy space like ice to water conversion and vice versa.
