Book excerpt: This carefully crafted ebook: “THE DREAMLANDS SERIES: 20+ Gruesome Tales of Terror in One Premium Edition” is formatted for your eReader with a functional and detailed table of contents. This collection represents “The Dream Cycle” - Lovecraft's famous series of short stories & novellas. They concern themselves with "The Dreamlands," a vast, alternate dimension that can be entered via dreams. Evidently all dreamers see the Dreamlands slightly differently, as Atal, High Priest of Ulthar, mentions that everyone has their own dreamland. In the same sentence he says the Dreamlands that many know is a "general land of vision." The Dreamlands are divided into four regions: The West contains the Steps of Deeper Slumber (descended via the "Cavern of Flame") and the Enchanted Woods by which many enter the Dreamlands. Other points of interest include the port of Dylath-Leen, one of the Dreamlands' largest cities; the town of Ulthar "where no man may kill a cat," the coastal jungle city of Hlanith, and the desert trading capital Illarnek. Here lies the fabled Land of Mnar, whose gray stones are etched with signs and where rise the ruins of the great Sarnath. The South, home of the isle of Oriab and the areas known as the Fantastic Realms. The East, home of Celephaïs, a city dreamt into being by its monarch Kuranes, greatest of all recorded dreamers, and the dangerous Forbidden Lands. The North, location of the feared Plateau of Leng, home of man-eating spiders and the satyr-like "Men of Leng". Download or read book Group Spirituality written by Roger Grainger and published by Psychology Press. This book was released on 2003 with total page 163 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Group spirituality is an increasingly popular area of focus, and working in groups raises some very different and valuable consequences which wouldn't necessarily arise in a one-to-one encounter. In Group Spirituality, Roger Grainger, an author already established as an authority on Drama therapy, provides a functional guide to group spirituality and workshops. Derived from the authors' experiences of working with groups of people interested in exploring their own and other people's spirituality, Group Spirituality turns an abstract idea into a practical and recognizable experience. The nature of group work, the embodiment of ideas and feelings, and circumstances aiding personal encounter are discussed. Workshop examples aimed at establishing group identity and the introduction of the idea of the 'safe place' are explained. The symbolism of spiritual awareness is approached, and a firm distinction between spirituality and religion is made. Group Spirituality's approach to spirituality from a workshop focus, successfully attempts to embody spirituality and provide a framework for consciously examining and integrating spirituality within the rest of our life.

Download or read book The Neuropsychology of Dreams written by Mark Solms and published by Psychology Press. This book was released on 2014-02-25 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, Mark Solms chronicles a fascinating effort to systematically apply the clinico-anatomical method to the study of dreams. The purpose of the effort was to place disorders of dreaming on an equivalent footing with those of other higher mental functions such as the aphasias, apraxias, and agnosias. Modern knowledge of the neurological organization of human mental functions was grounded upon systematic clinico-anatomical investigations of these functions under neuropathological conditions. It therefore seemed reasonable to assume that equivalent research into dreaming would provide analogous insights into the cerebral organization of this important but neglected function. Accordingly, the main thrust of the study was to identify changes in dreaming that are systematically associated with focal cerebral pathology and to describe the clinical and anatomical characteristics of those changes. The goal, in short, was to establish a nosology of dream disorders with neuropathological significance. Unless dreaming turned out to be organized in a fundamentally different way than other mental functions, there was every reason to expect that this research would cast light on the cerebral organization of the normal dream process.
